“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me'” (John 14:6 ESV)

Small Group Ministry

Email Scott Claybrook about General Small Group Questions

At CenterPoint Church, we see Small Groups as the “life of the church”. It is in these small, intimate groups that the church began and it is in these groups where real life-on-life heart change happens. Following the model of the early church in Acts 2, we gather in various homes throughout the week to grow in intimacy with God and one another as we seek to know Jesus, each other, and to make Him known through a lifestyle of mission in our city in our every day lives:

“And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers…and day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.” (Acts 2:42,46-47 ESV)

In addition, our Small Groups act as a primary context for discipleship to be fostered through relational connections between members.

Prayer

Email CenterPoint about Prayer Prayer is one of the most beautiful connections we have with the Living God in this life. Being able to be connected to Him, talk with Him, and cry out to Him for a changing of our broken world is a high privelage of faith in Jesus. Prayer is that privelage.

As a community of believers, our church loves to gather together corporately and pray to our Living God. “…If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land” 2 Chronicles 7:14. We gladly humble ourselves and seek our King’s face to see Him move in our lives and the lives of our loved ones. To see God make changes in our City, Society, Nation, and World.

Wednesday Evening Prayer

Come gather and seek Jesus’ face in prayer on Wednesday nights from 7:00-8:00pm for corporate prayer. Child care is provided.

Thursday Morning Men’s Prayer

Men, come gather on Thursday mornings from 7:00-8:00am for corporate prayer.

Youth Ministry

Email Andy Oeth about Youth Ministry

CenterPoint Youth Ministry has one goal. Our mission is to lay a firm foundation of Jesus Christ in the lives of students, grades 6-12. CenterPoint Youth Group does not shy away from the difficult issues facing our youth today, nor do we shy away from encouraging our students to make a difference in their homes, schools, city, nation, or the world. We tackle the serious issues through biblical training, counseling, and Family Ministry. We take a whole family approach, focusing on relationships, and tackling the source of the issues, not merely the symptoms. Our Youth meetings are full of fun, learning, and laughter. Come join us!

CenterPoint Youth meets on Wednesday Nights from 7:00-8:00pm.

Children’s Ministry

Email Michael Kauffman about Children’s Ministry

Our Children’s Ministry here at CenterPoint Church is a family focused ministry. We seek to come alongside families in the spiritual training of their children. On Sundays, our children are directed to Jesus through teaching, Bible reading, praying, and age-appropriate activities.

We also seek to serve families through prayer, helping structure family devotions, and counseling for family related needs. We rejoice when we can witness a child coming to faith and then sharing that faith with their family.

Worship

Email Ken Jenkins about Worship

At CenterPoint, the goal of our worship is to touch the heart of God. We seek to encourage people to be participants in worship and not merely spectators. Music is one of our primary tools for developing an atmosphere of worship at CenterPoint. To that end, we are continuously seeking skilled musicians and singers who have a heart for God’s presence. Worship is about Him, and therefore, our devotion must be characterized by humility. We believe that God’s plan is to grow a worship community who understands Christ’s admonition to worship “in Spirit and Truth”. 2 Chr 16:9

Time commitment would be regularly scheduled evening rehearsals as well as 1 hour before service on Sunday mornings. God is honored when we come prepared and are punctual!

If God has given you talent to be used to glorify His Name Alone, please contact me!

Jail Ministry Teams

We see Jesus open doors at Boone County Jail for ministry and missions as we visit our neighbors in need. CenterPoint conducts Church, Bible lessons, or Worship sessions on the first Sunday each month at 1:00-2:30 PM. Maybe God has been speaking to you about offering your unique gifts in faithful obedience to Him – here is a simple act that says “Yes” to Jesus and brings confidence your act is pleasing. When the Son of Man comes in his glory… The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’ (Mat 25:31-40).

If God has stirred your heart to give the best of yourself to these often overlooked in our community, please consider visiting on a Jail Ministry team for a season. We are looking for members of CenterPoint willing to commit to six or more visits per year, are of good character and inclined toward intercessory prayer, teaching, or evangelism.

Evangelism & Missions

Email Doug Phillips about Evangelism and/or Missions

Jesus said as written in Acts 1:8, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.” The Holy Spirit has energized and empowered us to be engaged in our world – that place wherever we find ourselves. Periodically Pastor Doug leads personal evangelism seminars which are designed to deposit in our folks key principles for effective gospel sharing. And, we are more likely to share the gospel if we understand what God has done in us through Jesus by the way of the Holy Spirit. We offer local outreach events (“R.A.K. Attacks” – Random Acts of Kindness), translocal outreach events (Mardi Gras Outreach), and global outreach events (A variety of mission outreaches to Haiti, Dominican Republic, China, etc.)

Black Sheep Harley Davidson for Christ (BSHDC)

Email Randy Quirk about Black Sheep

The Black Sheep HDFC Ministry is an International Ministry that was birthed out of a passion and vision to bring the Gospel to those who ride. While so many good Motorcycle Ministries and Clubs are doing such good work in this area, Black Sheep HDFC is focused specifically on ministering to the more than 2 million members of H.O.G., the Harley Owners Group Chapters and to the Dealerships they are linked to. While we minister to many other riders at different levels, H.O.G. is where over 50% of our time and resources goes.

Locally, we of the Mid-America Chapter of BSHDFC are focused on the Heart of America H.O.G. Chapter and Mid-America Harley Davidson. We find God using us in various means as we do the work He has called us to do. We are involved with Free Bootshines at local events that reflect Christ’s washing of the disciples feet, we do Bike Blessings on request, we are available for individual prayer and Invocations before rides or events and we help prepare and serve food for HOG and the dealership. We take meals to those members who are in need of assistance due to sickness or injury. We have been used on occasion to minister at weddings and funerals. We visit riders that are sick or have been injured and are in the hospital and give “Downed Biker Blankets” to those who have suffered from motorcycle accidents.

The Black Sheep M/M requires patched members to ride an American made motorcycle due to our demographic focus, however we do have an active area of the ministry for those who don’t ride American made bikes or even those who don’t ride at all but have a heart for this ministry. The “Friends of Black Sheep” patch is given and worn by those who are involved with that and are used on occasion to help with events as they can.
